Come and celebrate our 10th anniversary!
In the ten years since we started we have gone from strength to strength, and enjoyed some memorable reunions. Meeting up with old shipmates/friends and in the finest tradition of the service “swinging that lamp” just one more time. Starting with about 30, mainly local members, we now boast more than 100, from both national and international localities.
Given that success, your committee has decided that the next reunion should be something special. To that end, A formal dinner, has been arranged onboard HMS WARRIOR 1860. Dress Code for the Gentlemen will be “Black Tie” with Ladies in the appropriate equivalent.
For tickets, please visit the sweepstore.
Time is moving on fast and it is only 4 weeks on Saturday when we all meet onboard HMS WARRIOR for the 10th Anniversary Reunion Dinner.
We, the organisers are busy sorting the finishing touches to the evening, ordering the food and making sure there is enough Port to go around.
Your entertainment for the MWA 10th Anniversary Reunion Dinner is Shep Woolley and the Ansom Cabin Buoys
Visit www.shepwoolley.co.uk and select the Ansom CabinBuoys tab.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances Captain Colin Welborn Royal Navy is now unable to attend the dinner as our Guest of Honour. However, I am delighted to inform you that Captain Roger Readwin Royal Navy has kindly agreed to step into the breach. Captain Readwin is the current Captain Mine Warfare, Fishery Protection and Patrol Vessels Flotilla and will be familiar to some of you.
I have attached a document issued by HMS WARRIOR which outlines some do and don’ts that we are required to observe whilst onboard HMS WARRIOR. Ladies (and ex Sweepstoremen) please note the rules regarding heels and also the need to have a shawl or similar to hand as it does get a tad chilly below decks. Those of us that are Sweepdeck trained won’t even notice.
Another update next week once the food is ordered.
Looking forward to seeing you all.
