HMS Wilton visit!

On Saturday 24th June 2017 a few of the MW Association Members and their wives had the pleasure of visiting the old HMS Wilton now refitted as the Essex Yacht Club HQ at Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.

A superb job had been done throughout the ship.  The sweep deck was cleared for necessary club activities.  We even managed to more or less find the areas where our old bunk spaces were. Felt weird being on the helm again!

A big thank you to the club members the Club Commodore Robert Redman, Barry and Peter and others whose names I cannot recall.  We swapped photographs and reminisced over our time when we served on her.

They were so welcoming and will love to see any MWA member in the future.

There is no vehicular access to the Essex Yacht Club
It is a 500metre walk down a path from either old Leigh or Chalkwell www.essesxyachtclub.co.uk shows location.
Contact at the yacht club is Barry on 07850732567 if any problems.

This surely has to be a place for a future MWA reunion as one deck has been made ready for formal dinners.

Thanks to Andrea and Mark Bow for organising, others attending, Jim Hawkins, Peter & Kim Cooling and Shaun & Deb Keen.
