Born and Bred in West Wales being educated in Haverfordwest to a very basic standard before realising his limitations and deciding to join the RN in 1971. A Ganges boy he went on to Vernon initially to train as a UC but before using the skills in anger had the sense to re cat to UW. before becoming a founder member of the MW Branch in 1975. Having reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer serving on numerous Ton Class Boats, on trails team, and as an instructor in Vernon. For his last 2 years of his 22 year career he was draft to the MW school in Vernon as the Section Regulator and Course Planner. Due to a plethora of reasons this extended to a further service and as a civilian he served another 22 years at the school. During this time the role had transformed into the Role of Training Manager of the MW School He was crossed trained in both Hunt and Sandown class and oversaw the transfer of the school from Vernon(Gunwharf) to Dryad and later to Collingwood where it resides now. In 2015 seeking a fresh challenge in life he transferred his skills to become the Training Manager of the Saudi Hunter Project and to this day remains the Purveyor of Minewarefare and other specialists to the RSNF fleet. With a keen interest in maintaining a comadre amongst the branch he regulary arranged annual re-unions, on on his transfer from the Navy in 2008 along with other likeminded people formed the MW associon as it is today. Married to Sue, with 4 children and 7 granchildren life in centered around the family and when time allows enjoys Shed Pulling (caravaning) and in true MW tradition Socialising.
