I went along to this representing Atkins on their ‘Partnering with Armed Forces’ program and to raise money for SSAFA at the same time. Great evening and really interesting game. Many of the normal rules did not seem to apply, in that the ref just wanted to see a battle to win the ball and if there was a knock on during a ruck, well the strongest team got it!!
Someone paid £1050 for a signed Jonny Wilkinson England top, but I suppose he is the only English fly half to win a World Cup, so it will be worth it in the long run. Good investment if you ask me!
Also good to see AB (MW) Gareth Rees playing for the UK Armed Forces. They overcame a furry of tries by the Rugby for Heroes Barbarians in the first half to fight back to a 29-26 win!!
