Urgent update for hotel guests!

We have received the following email from the Falmouth Hotel:

Dear Guest,

It has recently been brought to our attention that a few guests maybe receiving emails claiming to be from The Falmouth Hotel. The email content includes booking details, making it appear legitimate; however, it will not be from a @falmouthhotel.co.uk email address.

There may be a link within this email, asking to click to confirm your reservation.

This email will not have been sent by The Falmouth Hotel, please do not click on the link, simply delete and ignore the message.

We are carrying out a thorough investigation, alongside our third-party software provider, and at this time it appears that some information held under certain guest profiles may have been accessed.

I would like to reassure you that no credit card details are stored anywhere, and it is impossible for these to be compromised as they are ‘tokenised’ as soon as they are entered, so you can be confident of no false charges occurring.

We have robust, industry leading measures in place in our IT systems however we are working constantly to keep up to speed with the latest protection from any nefarious players.

With any data exposure there can be several ways this can occur and whilst our internal system is robust, we cannot ever completely guarantee that each part of the transactional chain will be too.

I would like to apologise for any concern this may cause you, please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance or if you would like any further information.

Kind regards,

We would suggest checking with the hotel (by landline direct) should you receive any ‘strange’ email correspondence and double check validity with them.
