Finally!

Finally!

It’s here! The Vernon Mine Warfare & Diving Monument was unveiled at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth to a much reduced audience on the 18th March 2020.

Due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus it was decided to go ahead with the installation and unveiling to allow the display of this monument after so much time and effort to get us to this point. The decision was made to continue and unveil it to the general public before more demanding restrictions took hold.

A reduced attendance was requested for everyone’s safety in such trying times, with the disease growing and restrictions across the country beginning to kick in. It is hoped that a future dedication ceremony will be held for all those who were unable to attend and no doubt suitable celebrations will go ahead when it is safe to do so.

Some of our more intrepid members did manage to get down to see the installation and unveiling and the events were duly recorded and images and video posted on Facebook.
